The Flood
Site Specific Music Performance 2020
In the dock of the Maritime Museum of Denmark, we encounter a universe that is based on the myth of The Flood – the story of the world’s destruction and resurrection. The audience is invited on a journey where they are asked to take joint responsibility for building an ark that can save humanity from the impending crisis.
The Flood is formed as a large-scale music-performance. Four dancers are equipped with speaker tubes on their backs playing electronic music made up of construction sounds. They un-pack a ship container with the materials needed to build an ark. By dancing, they invite the audience to join them, so they can form a new ark together - just in time before the big flood arrives. The performance ends as an installation, where the audience need to decide for themselves when to leave the scenery and thereby break their homemade ark.
