En håndfuld støv  (A Handful of Dust) – T.S. Eliot’s “The Waste Land” brought to life in an underground theatre installation, produces by The Artist Collective Vontrapp, 2014.
The poem “The Waste Land” by T.S. Eliot is an essential part of the European literary canon. In Vontrapp’s theater installation “The Wasteland” is brought to life in the raw underground environment of The Cisterns in Copenhagen.

The audience is greeted by a bombardment of the senses, where the loss of meaning and the cold of the The Great War walks hand in hand with the beauty of poetry. The installation is opened above ground with a recitation of the poem in its full length. Then the audience is lead down into the abyss and into Vontrapp’s sensuous resonance of light, visual installations and electronic music compositions.

The installation was part of the Golden Days Festival marking the 100th anniversary of the First World War. Read more about the project here.
